This is going to be a special Christmas for wine enthusiasts and collectors. The Gelardini & Romani auction (www.grwineauction.com) that will be held in Rome on December 15th will be a unique occasion to buy some great wines. Those who love French wines, Super Tuscans, Brunello and Champagne will definitely be able to find something to satisfy their desires among the 378 lots that will be on the auctioning block.
Some of the pearls of the auction: an imperial bottle of Amarone Costasera Masi 1997, a magnum of Barolo Riserva Monfortino Conterno 2000, a double magnum of Barbaresco Riserva Asili Giacosa 2000, an incredibly rare bottle of Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi 1955, re-corking certificate included, a magnum of Guado al Tasso Antinori 1995, three bottles of Tignanello (the top-ranking Italian wine in the 2007 Wine Spectator classification) 1971 vintage (its first year of production), and 12 liters of Pergole Torte 2000.
There will also be a sensational collection of French wines: if you’re willing to spend, a bottle of Romanee Conti 1970 will start at an auctioning price of 1,800 euros. Or, if in the mood for Champagne, there is the three bottle lot of Pol Roger, Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill 1996. And, the final delight of the auction will be the lot that includes the Wine Spectator’s 2007 top wine choice: Clos des Papes 2005.
