RIUNITE-CIV FUSION: A COOPERATIVE COLOSSAL WORTH 450 MILLION EUROS. “RIUNITE & CIV WINERY” BECOMES THE POINT OF REFERENCE FOR THE ITALIAN CONGLOMERATE GRUPPO ITALIANO VINI (GIV)

A new colossal among Italian winemaking cooperatives has been created: the fusion between the Riunite and CIV wineries (now called Cantine Riunite e Civ) has been completed. It includes over 2,800 producing members, and is the new point of reference for the Italian conglomerate Gruppo Italiano Vini (GIV), which, with almost 300 million euros in earnings, is the top winemaking group in Italy, and one of the most important worldwide. Primarily, the members of the CIV group from Modena voted almost unanimously for the merge and the Riunite group from Reggio Emilia soon followed suit.

The new group should have earnings that reach around 450 million euros, 60% of which are earned abroad. It is an historic event in the history of Italian winemaking cooperatives, especially when considering how tightly linked both of these companies are to their own territories.

The head offices will be located in Campegine (Reggio Emilia) and will count on nine wineries for pressing and winemaking, and almost 800,000 quintals of grapes from the areas of Reggio Emilia, Modena, and Bologna, plus another 200,000 hectoliters from associated wineries mostly from the Reggio Emilia and Veneto regions. At the three bottling plants in Campegine, Modena, and Treviso 110 million bottles will be filled, for earnings predicted to reach 170 million euros.
The president of the new group is Corrado Casoli (originally president of the Riunite Winery), and the vice president is Vanis Bruni (the currrent president of CIV).
