A GREAT ARTIST FOR A GREAT CHAMPAGNE: SANDRO CHIA, ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS ITALIAN ARTISTS IN THE WORLD, HAS CREATED A LIMITED EDITION LABEL FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS MAISON PAILLARD

A marriage between art and wine: Sandro Chia, internationally recognized artist and one of the bets known painters of the Transvanguardia movement, has created an exclusive label for Bruno Paillard, the prestigious Champagne producer. The result of which is a limited collectors edition that unites the exceptional 1996 vintage – one of the best of the century for Champagne – with a unique artwork that Sandro Chia created with the inspiration of the specific characteristics of Blanc de Blancs Bruno Paillard, known for its great complexity and depth.

It is the first time that the Italian artist has offered his genius for a French wine. Until now Chia had jealously reserved his works for his own wine production. For many years now, in fact, Chia has been producing Brunello di Montalcino with the Castello di Romitorio company, run together with his son Filippo. The labels of the bottles produced at Castello di Romitorio represent a unique work for an artist, and are considered true art collectibles that are much coveted by wine enthusiasts around the world.
Filippo Chia explained how the collaboration with Paillard began: “The project was born through reciprocal admiration: on the part of Paillard for the work of my father, and for my father the Champagne. In particular, the 1996 vintage presented unique characteristics, thanks to an incredible structure and capacity for ageing, as we could confirm with a tasting together with our enologist Carlo Ferrini. The theme of the label, which represents a female figure immersed in the bubbling waters of the sea, is exactly that depth. To create it, my father underwent long preparatory work, with numerous preliminary designs and drafts, until he arrived at the final result. For us, it was, without a doubt, an honor to work with Bruno Paillard, as well as a pleasure for the intellect and the palate”.

The collaboration with Sandro Chia is part of the “Each Wine is Art” initiative, in which artists from all over the world have created unique labels for different vintages, starting with the 1981 harvest.

The Maison Bruno Paillard, founded in 1981, produces about 500,000 high-end bottles per year and the Champagne Bruno Paillard Blanc de Blancs 1996 with Sandro Chia’s label will be distributed by Cuzziol Spa and available exclusively in the best wine bars and restaurants.
