A FAREWELL TO CALIFORNIA WINES BY 2100. THE APOCALYPTIC HYPOTHESIS MADE BY U.S. SECRETARY OF ENERGY AND NOBEL PRIZE WINNER STEVEN CHU: “THE AMERICAN PUBLIC DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT COULD HAPPEN”

Enthusiasts of the celebrated wines from the Napa Valley in California may want to think about stocking up on their favorite bottles. According to the newly elected U.S. Energy Secretary and Nobel Prize winning Steven Chu, climate change could soon destroy California agriculture by the end of this century.

In his first interview since being sworn in, the new secretary explained to the ‘Los Angeles Times’ that, “the American public does not understand what could happen”, if global warming is left to run out of control.

Chu continued to explain that the impending scenario is one in which California agriculture, which is one of the most important agricultural areas for the entire United States, is likely to disappear and he is now insisting on the need to start using alternative energy sources as soon as possible. Today, California produces 90% of American made wine, with its almost 2,000 kilometers of vineyards.
