THE TOP TEN LIST OF THE BEST WINE TOURISM SPOTS IN THE WORLD ACCORDING TO THE PRESTIGIOUS AMERICAN JOURNAL “FORBES”: THE BANFI CASTLE IN MONTALCINO IS NUMBER ONE AND THE ONLY ITALIAN SITE ON THE LIST

The Banfi Castle, leader in the Brunello of Montalcino territory, is the best wine tourism spot in the world, says the prestigious U.S. magazine “Forbes”, which compiles the famous annual ranking of the richest men in the world.

This list, which ranks the prestigious Tuscan spot at number one is the only Italian destination mentioned. The top ten list was compiled by George Taber in his book “In Search of Bacchus: wanderings in the Wonderful World of Wine Tourism”. The writer prepared the text after spending 8 months traveling the world, visiting 12 wine producing countries, “hunting” for the best wine tourism destinations- from the most luxurious to the most suitable for relaxation.

Taber explains that Napa Valley “practically invented high-quality wine tourism”. Other wine regions around the world have been following the Napa Valley model and expanding it further: some have very personalized offers; some organize hospitality in high level hotels; some have a restaurant and wine tasting room reflecting the territory, its history and traditions. But when it comes to assessing “the complete package” the author of “In Search of Bacchus” is clear and gives number one ranking to the Banfi Castle in Montalcino. Banfi offers it all: a spectacular castle with two restaurants, a luxurious resort and a beautiful tasting room as well as a “fun and informative tour of the wine cellar.”
