AN EXHIBITION IN FLORENCE ON THE HISTORY OF WINE FROM JULY 2010 TO MAY 2011. A TRIP THROUGH ANCIENT MESOPOTAMIA TO MODERN TIMES, WITH A SPECIAL STOP AT THE VINEYARDS OF POMPEII

From Mesopotamia to modern-day Italy, from the rituals of communion to the celebration of plain drunkenness, wine and the vineyards it comes from are the protagonists of the international exhibition “Vinum Nostrum”, to be held from 20 July 2010 to 15 May 2011 in Florence at the Museo degli Argenti inside Palazzo Pitti. The event has been organized in a collaborative project between the Superintendence of Archeology of Naples and Pompeii and the History of Science Institute in Florence, the Superintendence of Architecture of Tuscany, and contributions from the Superintendences of Basilicata, Puglia and Calabria.
Original artifacts, sculptures, frescoes, and mosaics as well as videos and other multimedia devices will tell the story of wine and the vineyards it comes from. There will even be a reconstruction of a wine cellar from ancient Pompeii, created following literary descriptions.
