SLOW FOOD ITALY. THE AGRONOMIST FROM CAMPANIA, GAETANO PASCALE, NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, SAID, "WE ARE NO LONGER TWO TEAMS, BUT ONE, GREAT ASSOCIATION"

The new president of Slow Food Italy for the next four years is the agronomist from Campania Gaetano Pascale, who takes the place of Carlo Petrini, and wins over the other presidential candidate, Cinzia Scaffidi, who, however, will be on the executive board. In a press release he said that the organization is "no longer two teams, but one great association", "The convention”, said Pascale, “is united with this vote, and the numbers prove it. Now we have to make sure that Slow Food’s most important assets, that is, people, are put in the best possible condition to devote their energies and their will to all the good causes that Slow Food supports every day. Cinzia Scaffidi brings the contribution of the list, which will be represented on our executive committee, and this makes us stronger and brings us closer together”.
“I would like to thank all the candidates and those who participated at headquarters and in the territories, for the success of this great Convention, which marks a turning point. And starting tomorrow morning we are going to forget who we voted for: there are no longer two teams, but one great association”.
“The historic transition, which my team brought about, is to have found a way to identify, as participants, the leadership of this association”, said Cinzia Scaffidi, candidate for President on List 2 and now executive of Slow Food Italy, as the Convention decided. “The goal has been reached and this was important for us. The association has made its choice and today we five partners have made this decision our own and will work for the realization of the program that Slow Food has chosen”. “Our journey starts today”, said Carlo Petrini, the outgoing president, “with a ship and a crew that will be go even farther than we have up to now. To the new president and the new team, I want to convey not just my best wishes and sincere feelings of friendship, but also my full availability for the future”.
Pascale, the agronomist from Campania, has been active in the association since 1997, where he held the position of president of Slow Food Campania and professor in the Masters of Food for the courses on wine and oil. Daniel Buttignol is reconfirmed as national secretary. The new entries on the executive team are Lorenzo Berlendis, from Lombardy and the National Councilor for Slow Food; Sonia Chellini, former president of Slow Food Umbria and Francesca Rocchi, former president of Slow Food Lazio.
