Fine wine, the Italian wines are the most sought after in the world, in the Wine-Searcher “top 100”

The 2019 vintage was not very brilliant for the fine wine market, at least according to the Liv-Ex indexes, because Italy is experiencing a small “golden age”. This is also confirmed by the “Top 100 Most Searched-For Wines” by Wine-Searcher, which currently has 5 of the 15 most sought-after wines in the world, and 3 of the top 5. Including the n. 1 absolute, the Sassicaia of Tenuta San Guido, icon of the great Italian wines that continues to collect records, in front of a sacred monster of world wine, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, and another of the symbols of the wine of excellence of the Belpaese, the Ornellaia. At no. 4 another great of France and Bordeaux, Chateau Lafite Rothschild, which still precedes a symbol of the wine tricolor, the Solaia of Antinori. And again, in this Italian-French “waltz”, if at number 6 there is one of the most prestigious Champagnes in the world, the P2 Plenitude of Dom Perignon, at number 7 there is the Italian wine that goes for the most in the major international auctions, the Masseto. The top 10 ends with a trio of Champagnes, namely the Blanc de Blancs Millesimè by Ruinart, the Brut, again by Dom Perignon, and the Rosé by Jacques Selosse. Just in front, at number 11, the Montiano di Falesco, the historic estate of the Cotarella family. And, in a top 100 that, on the whole, is dominated by France, Italy places two other great wines, the Tignanello, again by Antinori, at no. 33, and the Barolo Monfortino Riserva by Giacomo Conterno, at no. 73.

A small record that, although probably temporary, is a good sign for the fine wines of the Belpaese and for the sector as a whole.
