Herita Marzotto Wine Estates, founded in 1935 by Count Gaetano Marzotto, is not only one of the leading players in the Italian wine industry, bringing together some of Italy most prestigious wine estates (from Santa Margherita in Veneto to Kettmeir in Alto Adige, from Ca’ del Bosco in Franciacorta to Lamole di Lamole and Vistarenni in Chianti Classico, from Cà Maiol in Lugana to Torresella in Eastern Veneto, from Sassoregale in Maremma to Cantine Mesa in Sardinia, as well as Roco Winery in Oregon, with revenues exceeding 246 million euros and more than 25 million bottles sold in 2025 across over 90 countries worldwide, ed), but it also stands as a benchmark for certified and recognized sustainability. The achievements reached by the company, led by the Marzotto family, are part of a responsibility-driven journey that began more than 12 years ago, when the group started measuring and offsetting the emissions associated with its iconic Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio in the Canadian market. The evolution of this vision led Herita to become the first Italian wine company to obtain carbon neutrality certification across its entire corporate perimeter, in accordance with Pas 2060, Iso 14064-1, and Iso 14068-1 standards. Crowning this journey, the Group secured first place at the 2025 Sustainability Awards in the “Esgfi Leader” category, recognized for its ability to integrate sustainability, finance, and innovation into its business model.
As highlighted by Herita Marzotto Wine Estates in the publication of its “Sustainability Report” No. 4, covering the 2025 financial year, the report was prepared in alignment with the European Csrd (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and structured according to the esrs (European Sustainability Reporting Standards, ed) framework.
In 2025, the company noted that its overall carbon footprint decreased by -8.68%, accompanied by an 8.09% reduction in emissions intensity relative to revenue. Among the key achievements, nearly 40% of the Group energy demand was met through renewable sources and self-generated photovoltaic energy. Moreover, 100% of the vineyard area managed in Italy was farmed under either organic agriculture or Sqnpi-certified integrated viticulture, and 100% of the Group Italian sites were certified as “Biodiversity Friend”.
“We don’t measure the value of our company solely through the quality of our wines or our financial results - underlines Gaetano Marzotto, president of Herita Marzotto Wine Estates - but also through our ability to regenerate the natural and social capital which has made them possible. From this perspective, the fourth edition of our Sustainability Report represents not only an exercise in transparency, but also evidence of a strategic vision in which Esg factors are an integral part of our identity. Supporting this commitment means honoring a vision that began more than 90 years ago. We pursue it through the intelligent use of resources, convinced that the integration of artisanal expertise and technological innovation is the only path to ensuring a lasting balance between business and nature”.
