From Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine to Marilisa Allegrini, from Tommasi Family Estates to Allegrini, from Romano Dal Forno to Ottella, and the new entrant Santi, the historic Valpolicella winery among the “Benefactors”; and from Masi Agricola to Vittorio Moretti, founder of the Terra Moretti Group, among the “Leadership” members: these are the figures from the Italian wine industry who, to date, support the “67 Columns for the Arena di Verona”, one of Italy most important cultural patronage initiatives. The project is based on a fundraising campaign promoted by the Arena Foundation in support of one of the country most prestigious cultural institutions. In 2025 alone, it raised more than 2 million euros. The Arena di Verona is a global symbol of Italian culture and, thanks to its Opera Festival, generates a significant economic, tourism, and social impact both locally and not only. According to Nomisma, this impact amounts to approximately 2 billion euros in economic value for the Italian economy, supports 6,000 jobs, and generates 206 million euros in tax revenues. The multiplier effect reaches 6.3 across the entire country: every euro spent by Arena spectators generates, through direct, indirect, and induced effects, 6.30 euros in production value for Italy.
This philosophy also underpins the business vision of Italian wine companies, which, alongside leading brands from Italian cuisine and agri-food, fashion, hospitality, dining, finance, sports, infrastructure, transportation, and other sectors, support the Arena. Through music and opera, the Arena helps promote Verona worldwide every year, because these companies regard the enhancement of their local territory as an integral part of their identity. “Joining the “67 Columns” means contributing to the preservation and promotion of a heritage that belongs not only to Verona, but to the entire world. For Santi - explained Alessandro Nogara, director of the winery founded in Illasi in 1843 - supporting this project is a tangible way of giving back to the territory that has been home to our wines and our history for more than 180 years. I believe that when two Veronese excellences, one in wine and one in culture, come together to keep our identity alive, they can grow together, create value, and help pass on a legacy of traditions, cooperation, and beauty. The “67 Columns” project arose precisely from this awareness”.
Launched in 2021 on the initiative of the Italian companies Oniverse, owned by the Veronesi family, together with Calzedonia and Pastificio Giovanni Rana, all symbols of Italian excellence around the world, the “67 Columns” project brings together companies, entrepreneurs, and professionals who choose to support the activities of the Arena Foundation through Italy Art Bonus scheme, making a concrete contribution to the growth of one of the world’s most prestigious opera festivals. The name symbolically refers to the 67 outer arches of the Roman amphitheatre which were lost following the earthquake of 1117: an ideal reconstruction made possible through the participation of the local business community. Over the years, the project has become one of Italy leading examples of cultural philanthropy, a national benchmark model, engaging an ever-growing number of companies and raising resources that are essential to the activities of the Arena Foundation. And that is not all.
