Robert Parker, the authoritative and most acclaimed signature in the wine world, the inventor of the judgments in hundredths that over the years have channeled and consolidated the drinking habits of millions of wine lovers in the U.S., has decided to partake in winemaking events in the wake of many of his colleagues’ experiences.
The "Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The Grand World Tour" (www.grandworldtour.com) is a project still in the making, but it can already count on strong support and certainties, even in its format. It will consist in real events that revolve around a large gala dinner, signed by master chefs, and a master class linked by a common wine thread that changes from time to time and from city to city. The size of the tour after all is the world and Robert Parker himself, together with the producers and his collaborators will lead the activities at each stop. The tour starts in Asia and the first stop is Beijing on February 27th with the "Gala Hedonist dinner" inspired by the theme "The Great Wines of St. Emilion & Pomerol ", then to Shanghai and the master class "The Great 2000 & 2009 Vintages of Medoc" and dinner "The Great Wines of Graves & Pessac Léognan " (March 1st-2nd). The next stop is Hong Kong, the master class on "Iconic French Wines and their World Counterparts" and dinner "The Legends of Greatness" (March 5th – 6th ), then to Kuala Lumpur, with the master class and dinner dedicated to "The Great Cabernet Sauvignons of the World", including Ornellaia 2010 Tenuta Guado al Tasso 2009 presented by Monica Larner ( March 8th to 9th ).
The last stop in Asia will be Singapore, where from March 14th-16th the star will be Italian wine. The master class will focus entirely on "The Iconic Wines of Piedmont", held by Parker together with Monica Larner, from Aldo Conterno’s Barolos to Bruno Giacosa’s Barbaresco, while the "Gala Hedonist's Dinner" theme, signed by chef Anthony Genovese's two-star "Il Pagliaccio", will be the "Great Terroirs & Grapes of Italy", from Taurasi Radici di Mastroberardino to Brunello di Casanova di Neri. We will have to wait a few more days before we know the American and European dates, places and wines, places and wines that will enliven the events of major historical producers and wine making in the world.
