THE FRIULI REGION IS INVESTING IN ITSELF. THE HISTORIC COMPANY SCHIOPETTO IN COLLIO, FOUNDED IN 1965 - 30 HECTARES OF VINEYARDS AND PRODUCTION 170.000 BOTTLES - IS ABOUT TO BE TAKEN OVER BY THE ROTOLO FAMILY (VOLPE PASISNI). FIGURES ARE TOP SECRET

Right now, while foreign capital is livening up the market for Italian wine, the Friuli region has decided to invest in itself with an agreement signed by the Rotolo family, head of the firm Volpe Pasini, and the Schiopetto family for the acquisition of the historic company in Collio, founded by Mario Schiopetto in 1965. Today, the company counts 50 hectares, 30 of which are vineyards, and a production of close to 170.000 bottles a year. Official figures have not yet been disclosed but experts say the value of 1 hectare of vineyard in the Collio area is around 250-300.000 euros. What is certain, however, is that the two most important companies on the Friuli wine scene will continue to be managed autonomously, each with its own brand, mission, and in full respect of the two different territories, the Eastern Hills and the Collio.
“I'm proud to say”, says Emilio Rotolo, president of Volpe Pasini, “along with my sons Francesco and Alessandro, there is a sign of continuity in the footsteps of Mario Schiopetto, founding father of Friuli wine and not only, and in the coming years the company will reach its most ambitious goals”. Maria Angela Schiopetto who will be the honorary president of the famous company in Capriva del Friuli, together with her brothers George and Charles is also satisfied with the agreement: “We have found that the Rotolo family shares the same strong determination and great love for the territory, which is what convinced us to work together to make our wines bigger and bigger, like our father always wanted”.

It is an important investment in which the Rotolo family is deeply committed, and it is dedicated to the maintenance of the regional wine heritage as well as being a tangible sign of great optimism for the future of winemaking in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
