PROSECCO ROAD IN AUSTRALIA: ITALIAN ORIGIN GRAPE GROWERS HAVE CREATED A “WINE ROAD” IN KING VALLEY, DEDICATED TO THE FAMOUS VENETIAN GRAPEVINE. TALK ABOUT “ITALIAN SOUNDING”…

Talk about Italian Sounding: here is King Valley Prosecco Road. This is not an English name to attract tourists to Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and surroundings, but rather what some Australian wine makers of Italian origin (Dal Zotto, Ciccone Estate, Pizzini Wines and others) have given to their project in the land of kangaroos. The reference to the Venetian origins of the founders is very clear in the video that introduces the project. It is a journey through the wineries that have planted the famous grape variety in Australia, dedicated “to lovers of sparkling Italian white”, as we read on their website, www.kingvalleyproseccoroad.com.au. The Italian wine producer, Battistella, sent us this news item. Is it fair practice? This is one of the many cases that testifies to the appeal of Made in Italy, but it also means there is a real need to protect successful Italian brands in the world.
