No breaks for Chianti Docg tours flying to Canada, from Toronto to Montreal

There is no break for Chianti DOCG wine tours. The largest and most popular wine denomination in Tuscany, and one of Italy’s most important, continues its international outreach. The Chianti Wine Consortium, representing a denomination traditionally known for red wines (but which has recently expanded to include rosé as well), is once again heading to Canada. On August 31st in Toronto and September 1st in Montreal, the Consortium will host dedicated masterclasses for importers, wine professionals, journalists, and trade operators, with the aim of deepening knowledge of the territory, its subzones, and the many expressions of Sangiovese.
For the Consortium, this marks the third initiative of this kind in the North American country since launching its promotional project in 2024. Canada is the fourth most important export market for Italian wine, after the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and the second most significant non-European Union market. According to the latest Istat export data analyzed by WineNews, Italian wine exports to Canada remained stable at 125.5 million euros in April 2026 compared to the first four months of 2025.

Returning for a third round of these masterclasses means strengthening a promotional strategy built on wine culture and professional education  - says Giovanni Busi, president of the Chianti Wine Consortium -  talking about Chianti today means talking about a denomination that knows how to renew itself without losing its identity, one that can express different nuances through its territories, subzones, and the wine-growing heritage that makes it unique”.
The first event will take place on August 31st at Aria Ristorante in Toronto, featuring the masterclass Chianti: The Geometry of Terroir. Mapping the Diversity, Sub-zones, and Soul of Tuscany’s Most Iconic Appellation. The session will be led by  wine & food critic DipWset Megha Jandhyala, who will guide participants through a tasting of five Chianti DOCG wines representing the denomination, its territory, and its subzones. The second event is scheduled for September 1st at the Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec (Ithq) in Montreal. Master of Wine Jacky Blisson will lead the masterclass “La Renaissance du Chianti: l’évolution d’un classique contemporain. Altitude, fraîcheur et expression moderne du Sangiovese et de ses cépages apparentés” - “The Renaissance of Chianti: the evolution of a contemporary classic. Altitude, freshness and the modern expression of Sangiovese and related varieties”, focusing on the evolution of the denomination and contemporary interpretations of Sangiovese, accompanied by a representative tasting of wines from the denomination, its territory, and its subzones. The masterclasses are organized by Iem (International Event & Exhibition Management) with funding from the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, under Ministerial Decree No. 685310 of December 18th, 2025.
