71.4 million euros are at Italian Regions’ disposal for the promotion of wine in third countries, provided by CMO wine for the year 2015. The Veneto region received the most at 11 million 769 thousand 663 euros, followed by Sicily at 8 million 865 thousand 465, and Tuscany at 7 million 458 thousand 790 euros established by the Ministry of Agriculture decree number 3226, dated May 26, 2014. Following the top three regions are Piedmont, 7.1 million euros, Emilia Romagna, 6.8 million and the Apulia region, 6.5. At a distance are the Lombardy region, 3.4 million euros, Abruzzi, 2.9, Friuli Venezia Giulia, 2.7, and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento, Lazio, Campania and Sardinia 1.9 million each.
Then, the Marche region, at 1.6 million euros, Umbria, 1.3, and contributions ranging from 914.015 euros to the autonomous province of Bolzano to 137.021 euros to Val d'Aosta, Calabria, Molise, Basilicata and Liguria. And while the regions and autonomous provinces (Bolzano and Abruzzi first, in order of time), have begun to publish their call for tenders, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the projects financed by the national share for the year 2014-2015, and the year 2015-2016 (all multi-year projects, ed.) in a document dated April 4, 2014. In the first case, the biggest project with funds for 3.6 million euros (the request was for 10.9) is the Italian Wine Consortium (which includes 13 brands such as Castello Banfi, Lunae, Ferrari, Sartori, Zonin, Gancia, Italian Wine Group, Librandi, Marchesi di Barolo, Doctors Hermes, Santa Margherita, Drei Dona and Terredora, with a total turnover of around 1 billion euros, ed.), followed by the Wine Quality Institute Grandi Marchi (which brings together 19 of the most prestigious wineries in Italy: Lageder, Argiolas, Biondi Santi Greppo, Ca' del Bosco, Michele Chiarlo, Carpenè Malvolti, Donnafugata, Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Estates, Gaja, Jermann, Lungarotti, Masi, Marchesi Antinori, Mastroberardino, Pio Cesare, Rivera, Tasca d'Almerita, Tenuta San Guido, Umani Ronchi, for a total turnover of 500 million euros) 3.1 million euros ( requested 8.5) and the Italian Wines Group (GIV) 2.3 million euros (requested 6.6). In the second case, the Italian Wine Consortium is first for the year 2015-2016, with a budget of 5.6 million euros (requested 13.8), followed by Italian Wine Group (GIV) 3 million (requested 7) and Davide Campari, 2.3 (requested 6.4).
