STUDYING IN FIELDS AND VINEYARDS: BOOM OF STUDENTS AT AGRICULTURE FACULTIES AND INSTITUTES. RECORD ENROLLMENT AT SAN MICHELE INSTITUTE IN ALTO ADIGE: 840 STUDENTS. MASTER DEGREE IN SUSTAINABLE VITICULTURE

Despite the recession, enrollment in the faculties of Agriculture is increasing. What might be appealing to students is that 60% of graduates find work in agriculture within a year. The fact is that more and more students are enrolling in Agriculture universities and institutions. The Italian confederation of farmers, Confagricoltura, says in the last year there has been a real boom, like the case of Palermo where 93% more students enrolled. And wine is no exception.
One of the centers of excellence, the Agricultural Institute of San Michele in Adige has 840 students ready to begin the academic year - a historic peak for the famous Edmund Mach Foundation. And, to explore the sizzling issues of modern viticulture - sustainable vineyards and traceability of wine, the Institute has a new master’s degree, in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Milan (15 places, enrollment open until September 29), that will also make some parts of the “Plan for the development of viticulture in the Trentino area” available. The subjects will range from vineyards to the wine cellar, from marketing to communication, from the concept of “green business to sustainability”. In other words, everybody wants to study in the fields and vineyards.
