U.S.A.: “WINE WITHOUT FOOD”. 6 OUT OF 10 REGULAR CONSUMERS DRINK WINE BETWEEN MEALS, EITHER WHILE MAKING DINNER OR WITH A SNACK AND MOST ARE WOMEN AND YOUNG ADULTS, REVEALS A SURVEY BY THE SPECIALIZED AGENCY, “WINE OPINIONS”

Forget wine at meals! 59% of Americans who drink wine, usually drink it at home alone, while making dinner, or perhaps with a snack, reveals the survey conducted by “Wine Opinions”, the U.S. agency that specializes in wine market research. The so-called “Millennials”, mainly women and young adults lead this trend. Also, more than half of the wine is drunk between Friday and Saturday, especially before, during and after dinner.
The situation is completely opposite at restaurants, where 58% of wine fans enjoy a glass of wine with a good meal. The survey further revealed that the majority of experienced wine drinkers is not so interested in food and wine pairing, as is often thought. 25% of young adults consider white wine to be the best appetizer either alone or as part of a cocktail. These trends, on one hand, may cause some alarm for Italian wine, as pairing it with food is one of its strengths, but on the other, are favorable because even if it is a different style of consumption, Italy is the leader among exporters in the United States.
