Between wine tourism and the future, the Sommeliers of Italy at the Congress in Verona

Figure that in recent years has been the protagonist of the growth of wine culture, the sommelier, today, “is no longer just the wine manager of a restaurant or a pub, but increasingly a communicator, a consultant, an influencer, and also a figure of primary importance from the point of view of wine tourism”: words of the President of the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS) Antonello Maietta, and a starting point for the Congress, staged in Verona, from 22nd to 24th November, which has as central theme “The role of the Sommelier in wine tourism hospitality”. And that will be examined at the conference (Saturday, November 23rd, Teatro Filarmonico, Verona), where we will discuss how to “Transform the terroir into a tourist destination - Communication, Marketing, Digital, Governance of Tourism, Training and Hospitality 4.0”. A moment of important reflection on the future of the sommelier and of the largest and most historic trade organization, which today has over 40,000 members.

The Congress will be an expression of the link between wine and tourism, also with the many itineraries proposed in the different days, in the territories of the Euganean Hills, of Soave, but also to discover the link between wine, vineyard and the ancient churches of Verona, for example, but also of the Valpolicella, with its Amarone and its fruit trees, the arèle and the picai for the withering of the grapes, and again of the Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene and Asolo, and of the Venetian bubbles in general, to give examples . While on Sunday 24 November (when “Durello & Friends” 2019 will also start, in Gran Guardia, ed) the Best Sommelier of Italy will be unveiled - Premio TrentoDoc 2019, chosen, after many tests, among 10 finalists from all over Italy (Matteo Antonelli, Francesca Penzo, Alessandro Nigro Imperiale, Stefano Berzi, Francesco Gardi, Simone Vergamini, Alessio Serafini, Valentino Tesi, Luigi Scala, Andrè Senorer).
