COMPANY STRUCTURE OF MASI AGRICOLA CHANGES. THE BOSCAINI FAMILY CEDES 28.5% OWNERSHIP OF ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY WINE PRODUCTION, AND NUMBER ONE AMARONE PRODUCING COMPANIES TO ALCEDO SGR (SAN PAOLO SPA GROUP)

The company structure of Masi Agricola Spa has changed. The prestigious company in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella is one of the most important quality wine producers in Italy and is the top producer of Amarone, one of the most noble and appreciated wines in the world. Masi, has now, in fact, opened its capital to international financial and industrial partners. In the first phase, the Boscaini family has ceded 28.5% to Alcedo Sgr (the closed-end fund groups Fondi Chiusi Cardine Impresa and Eptasviluppo), liquidating the components of the family who was no longer interested in being active in the company.

Sandro Boscaini, President of Masi Agricola declared, “With this operation we are pointing towards consolidating and developing the significant growth of recent years, and, with Alcedo, we are reinforcing the financial position of the company as well as the managerial structure. We are taking a path of growth that foresees the acquisition, aggregation, and joint ventures with other qualified operators of the sector. The key is that of completing the processing line and the integration of its array of products in a way that can offer markets the most representative and complete production, and above all the wines of the Venezie region. Another common goal is that of having stock market shares so the group can continue to grow and affirm the seriousness and reputation of its brand on an international level”.

Overall, this operation demonstrates that the wine sector is alive and reacting to the need to create company dimensions more adapted to the changing market situations. The alliance with Alcedo Sgr, a Private Equity operator who, according to its own proclaimed investment philosophy, prefers an industrial approach with entrepreneurs, forming true partnerships and guaranteeing experience and solid and competitive managerial capacity.

Alcedo Sgr, already pertaining to the San Paolo Spa group, was recently acquired by Giovanni Gajo and Maurizio Masetti (respectively president and managing director) with the support of Palladio Finanziaria and Veneto Banca, which both have minority shares in Alcedo. Alcedo Sgr directly manages the closed-end funding groups “Cardine Impresa” and “Eptasviluppo” operating with a total budget of 106 million euros, of which about 70 million are invested in 17 operations, some already concluded with a disinvestment. In the future Alcedo will launch new reserve closed-end funds primarily dedicated to medium-sized businesses.
