ITALY’S MICHELIN CHEFS RAISE 263,300 EUROS FOR “A GOOD CAUSE” AT FUNDRAISER LUNCH IN ERBUSCO (CA’ DEL BOSCO)

Italy’s top five Italian chefs (those who obtained the prestigious Michelin three star ranking in 2008) joined together for a benefit lunch recently held in the heart of the Franciacorta territory at Ca’ del Bosco winery in Erbusco, raising 263,300 euros to be divided equally between two different charity organizations: the children’s organization run by Father Eligio Gelmini, “Mondo X”, and the “City of Hope” foundation run by Andrea Camporese and where funds will go to the pediatric hospital of Padua.

The event’s success is thanks to the efforts of volunteers, the owners of Ca’ del Bosco winery where the event was held, and the sponsors who organized an auction that included the participation of Anselmi, Champagne Thienot, Cuzziol, Dom Pérignon, Enoteca Pinchiorri, Ferrarelle, Gaja, Meregalli, Iwc, Michelin Italia, Philipponnat, Porsche Italia, Sagna, Sarzi Amadé, Velier…).

The mouthwatering men included an aperitif prepared by Enrico and Roberto Cerea (Da Vittorio - Brusaporto) together with Ostriche by Mauro and Andrea Lorenzon (Enoteca Mascareta - Venice), and was served by candlelight in the suggestive underground cupola of the Ca’ del Bosco winery; appetizers by Luisa Valazza (Al Sorriso - Soriso); first course by Antonio and Nadia Santini (Al Pescatore - Canneto sull’Oglio); a fish based second course by Annie Feolde (Enoteca Pinchiorri - Florence) and a meat based second by Massimiliano Alajmo (Le Calandre - Rubano); and the dessert was prepared by Heinz Beck (La Pergola - Rome). As for the wine, an exclusive list of some of the top Italian labels was created by Giorgio Pinchiorri and Maurizio Zanella (see wine list below).

And with this successful fifth edition of the event, 893,700 euros total have now been raised exclusively for pediatric research or organizations dedicated to aiding underprivileged children.

The group behind these events is “Gusto per la Ricerca” (Taste for Research), created by Stefano Bellon together with the Alajmo brothers of Le Calandre restaurant. They are already planning the next appointment for 2009 in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, hoping that this next event will reach the million euro mark.
