The Agriculture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies has given the green light to the opinion on the decree-law, in implementation of the Consolidated Wine Text, which regulates the recognition and protection of heroic and historical vineyards. Thus, from his Facebook page, Filippo Gallinella, president of the XIII Agriculture Commission. “The heroic vineyards - the post states - are those located on land with a gradient of more than 30% or an altitude of more than 500 meters, while the historical ones must have a production prior to 1960: two sections with a strong historical, landscape and environmental value of our country. The Regions will receive the applications from the producers for the recognition of these vineyards: once the applications will be accepted, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, the producers will be able to use the funds provided by the National Programme to support the wine sector, part of which will be directed to the restoration, recovery, maintenance of the heroic and historical vineyards that use native vines. If the Regions have the documentation proving the requirements - continues Gallinella - the same must not be attached by the applicant at the moment of application, in order not to burden excessively the producers of historic or heroic vineyards. Finally, the Committee on Agriculture has asked to specify whether the provision is intended to allow the use of an existing trademark or to provide for the creation of a new one, in which case it will be necessary to specify the optional nature, specifying the conditions and methods of allocation. This act allows us to talk about definitions and procedures, reorganizing a particular sector of viticulture with considerable potential for development. Now the decree - concludes the president of the XIII Agriculture Commission of the Chamber - after the necessary revisions, can be published to enter into force”.
