The top wine producing countries of the world (apart from Australia but including the U.S. state of California) have united to create the “New World Alliance”, a marketing strategy that will be presented at the Prowein expo in Germany next March 2010.
New Zealand, California, Chile, South Africa, and Argentina have joined forces to launch a sort of “holy” alliance with the goal of diminishing the strength of united wine producing countries in the European Union.
A spokesperson for the alliance explained on the Decanter website (www.decanter.it) that the New World Countries, though they will remain competitors amongst themselves, can increase their penetration potential on the world wine market by sharing the best commercial and marketing practices. These countries have already received great advantages through the exchanges and sharing of enological and agricultural research, as well as that of innovations in packaging and logistics.
