World wine exports are up and running. From June 2014 to June 2015, volumes were up 3.4%, to 10.337 billion liters (342 million liters more than the previous 12 months), for a total turnover up 5%, at 26.924 billion euros (+1.291 million euros), revealed the OEMV Observatorio Español del Mercado del Vino (www. oemv.es) report, "Major world wine vendors". The top performers were bottled wines that grew by one billion euros in the period (+5.5%) and not surprisingly, sparkling wines did proportionately better, at +7.4% -332 million euros more than the previous 12 months, while bulk wine led quantity growth (+200 million hectoliters).
France (+252.3 million euros) and Italy (+152.7 million euros) are the top exporting countries, in terms of value, while Spain, at 429 million liters, ranks first in volume, offset by the continuing downfall in average prices, which is the lowest among the top 11 exporting countries: 1.6 euros per liter, 16.4% less than during the previous period.
