"THE CHINESE ARE ALREADY FED UP CULTIVATING ONLY FRENCH VARIETIES FOR THEIR WINES, SO THE UNIVERSITY OF BEIJING ASKED ITALY TO STUDY NEW GRAPE VARIETIES WITH THEM”, PROFESSOR ATTILIO SCIENA (UNIVERSITY OF MILAN) TOLD WINENEWS

The Chinese are discovering quality wines, and their changing tastes seem to follow the fast pace of economic development of the country. Bordeaux is already beginning to be betrayed for Burgundy, which is in some ways good news for Italian wine.
"The Chinese are already fed up with cultivating only French varieties for their wines such as Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. That's why Beijing University asked us to study crossbreeding of grapes to renew winemaking in China”, Professor Attilio Scienza, of the University of Milan told WineNews. This confirms the appreciation and further recognition that Italy, from the point of view of innovation in viticulture, just to remain in the atmosphere, is Olympic gold medal material.
