The Cormòns Winery "Wine of Peace" project, unique in its genre and intent turned 30 in 2013. The project started in 1983 on the idea to plant grape vines from the five continents - from Sirah to Tulilah, Shurrebe, Pedral and Maizy, but also the well known Marzemino, Teran, Merlot, Gamay and Ucelut - 855 today, in a single vineyard "The World Vineyard" in Cormòns in Friuli, and produce a wine capable of preserving and promoting a strong message of peace and brotherhood throughout the world (the first in 1985). It was also a canvas for artists and a blank page for poets, with exceptional testimonials ranging from Enrico Baj to Salvatore Fiume, Giacomo Manzu, Dario Fo, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Matta, Mimmo Rotella, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mimmo Paladino, Fernando Botero and Yoko Ono, to name just a few. The wine is also given as a gift to Heads of State worldwide.
Concluding celebrations were held on January 27th at "Il Pagliaccio" in Rome, the Michelin-starred restaurant headed by chef Anthony Genovese and Marion Lichtle, with a dinner starring many names in food and wine to celebrate the achievements and success of the project. 2013 was chock full of events for "Wine of Peace" and its message of unity as well as nominating the "Ambassadors of Wine of Peace". There was also a special harvest just like in 1985, where students of the United World College in Duino, from over 80 countries, participated. The new vintage wine was presented in Rome, along with its precious labels made in 2012 by the artist Emilio Isgro along with Arrigo Levi, journalist and writer, painter Enrico Castellani and Alexander Rivals Kengiro Azuma, whose work will be accompanied by the poems of Isabella Panfido. And Winery Cormòns conferred the title of "Ambassador of Wine of Peace" to the restaurant "Il Pagliaccio" and its chef sommelier Matthew Zappile.
