World Wine Town, the Italian answer to Bordeaux’ Cité du Vin, could not have been created anywhere else but in Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri DOC territory and land of the Tuscan wines Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Grattamacco, Piastraia and many other extraordinary quality wines. It is an enormous project, conceived and carried out by the projector-designer Franco Malenotti, along with Gaddo Della Gherardesca and the three time Oscar winner, stage designer Dante Ferretti. The "Sensory and Multimedia Wine Museum" is the final piece that completes this jewel of Italian food and wine culture, which is fully integrated in the international food and wine tourism circuit.
The wine town on the Tuscan coast, located in the ancient and accurately restored farm, Casone Ugolino, which once belonged to the Della Gherardesca family, offers hospitality and catering and meticulous attention to the territory’s products and traditions. It will be compared to similar investments made in China, France and the United States and therefore aims to build a single network with other Italian wine cities: House of Chianti Classico in Radda in Chianti; Wimu in Barolo, and Venice Wine Town. Work on these projects has begun recently, in order to intercept, direct and support this new growing tourist demand.
The main attraction will be "Musem" - Sensory and Multimedia Wine Museum, an unforgettable all around sensory experience that crosses the entire history of wine from antiquity to today, divided into two distinct moments. One is an emotional journey, masterfully conducted by Professor Attilio Scienza, from the Etruscans to the present, through the Romans to the Middle Ages and the nineteenth century.
The other is contemporary reality, narrated using a world preview of the holographic system, in the words of today's wine world protagonists from famous families such as Della Gherardesca, Antinori, and of course, Niccolò Incisa della Rocchetta, and those visionary entrepreneurs who have always believed in Italian wine and have brought it to the world.
