AFTER ITS HUGE SUCCESS IN MILAN AND RIO DE JANEIRO, MASSIMO BOTTURA’S "REFETTORI" PROJECT IS COMING TO THE BRONX IN NEW YORK, WITH A SPECTACULAR PARTNER: ROBERT DE NIRO, ANNOUNCED THE NUMBER ONE CHEF IN THE WORLD TOGETHER WITH "RAGING BULL"

“Planning the new Refettorio in the Bronx!!! 2017 with Bob”, wrote the number one chef in the world on his instagram profile. He has now added "Bob", the actor Robert De Niro, to the list of celebrities that he has cooked for in his restaurant Osteria Francescana in Modena. Bottura has gone beyond just cooking for the American Academy Award winning actor, born in New York but of Italian origin (his grandparents were from Molise), as the chef himself announced, together with the interpreter of masterpieces such as Raging Bull, The Godfather, Taxi Driver and Once upon a time in America ", they talked about opening a new" Refectory "- the Food for Soul, non-profit organization project that Bottura promotes to find solutions against food waste and hunger in the world, transforming waste into food for the needy - in the Bronx, one of the toughest neighborhoods in New York.

The project started with the Refettorio Ambrosiano that opened in Milan during Expo 2015 with Pope Francis’ blessing, and is still active (during the Universal Exhibition, 60 internationally renowned chefs transformed food scraps into stellar dishes to offer to the needy, 15 tons of food for 11.000 meals). In a few days another one will open in Brazil for the Olympics, the RefettoRio” where meals for the needy will be prepared from food scraps from the kitchens of the Olympic Village. The Refettorio project will also be coming to the Big Apple, with a partnership between Bottura and De Niro that can be defined no less than “spectacular”.
Just recently the "RefettoRio" was officially presented at FAO in Rome, and the Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina had stated that it is the "best practice created by Bottura, ambassador of Made in Italy in the world, which can be replicated in other countries, a project that will arrive in other major cities; for instance, like New York”. No sooner said than done.
