Andy Warhol’s "After the Party", after having drunk good wine, and a "Bacchanal" by the creative genius of Pablo Picasso are the works of art by two of the greatest artists of the 1900s that will enrich the private collection of historical drawings with wine as the subject and its infinite representations (nearly 300, ed.), owned by Ferruccio Ferragamo.
It is a unique collection of a lifetime, and includes works by Mantegna, Annibale Carracci, William Hogarth, Alphonse Charles Masson, Nicolas Poussin, Jacob Jordaens, and is kept at Il Borro, the estate and winery of the famous fashion and wine family, in the Valdarno area in Tuscany. Starting October 26th, one can admire the two prestigious "new entries" along with about 70 works from the collection, from Dürer to Mantegna, Rubens, Rembrandt, Goya and Manet, in the exhibition "From Mantegna to Warhol. Stories of wine", promoted for the reopening of the Estate’s Wine & Art Gallery.
The new show tells the history of wine in four moments: exploring the mysteries of the ancient rites of Bacchus, observing the connections with Christian tradition, looking at household and earthly life and going to the deepest depths of vice to which wine abuse can lead man.
