When wine and solidarity meet, which in Italy happens quite often, it is always a success. And therefore, Fattoria Tellus, a project by Dominga, Marta and Enrica Cotarella, an all-encompassing farm dedicated to children, to rediscovering the relationship with nature in a full-immersion journey of the 5 senses, has officially partnered with the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, celebrating its 150 years.
The Tellus Farm is a space created for children, including the less fortunate, where they can spend time together with their families playing games and rediscovering interpersonal relationships. Nonno Enos (grandpa Enos), the mascot of Fattoria Tellus, welcomes the children. He is a fictional character who stimulates the children's curiosity, teaching them to love nature and everything it offers them.
This mascot pairs very well with the slogan that summarizes the vision of the Hospital, “The future is a story of children”, which also aims at innovative therapies to treat the little ones. Hence the link with the Cotarella family’s Fattoria Tellus, who have dedicated their Tellus Syrah to the anniversary of the Hospital. Each purchase of the wine will support the Institute for transplants and treating childhood cancer.
“We really liked the idea of combining our 150-year-old logo with a wine. I believe it is a marvelous collaboration that will bear many fruits, because by drinking this wine one will be financing one of the most important projects in the history of the Bambin Gesù, the Institute of tumors and transplants, which will be opening in the next few years in Rome. The central idea is that the excellent entrepreneurial and territorial companies must network, and wine is an opportunity to make hubs and team up to create new synergies to support important projects together”, commented the director general of Bambin Gesù, Ruggero Parrotto.
Fattoria Tellus will be opening in October 2019, and this will be the first step towards a comprehensive path to insert and integrate disabled children in a recreational space. “We wish”, explained Dominga Cotarella, “to create a play park that is accessible not only to those with disabilities, but rather to children with all types of abilities, all together, regardless of their physical or mental abilities. Inclusive playgrounds will allow architectural barriers to be removed and replaced with access ramps, paths for visually impaired children, tactile paths, raised horticulture tanks and double-track slides, all designed to allow children with different abilities to play and learn together with their friends, siblings and parents. An inclusive play area is a space where children with physical or sensory disabilities or with movement problems can play and have fun safely, together with everyone else.”
The newly founded collaboration between the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital and the Cotarella Family is already in a more advanced stage, thanks to “Intrecci”, the high school training school. The protagonist of this further evolution will be a young person who has succeeded in passing a demanding course as nursing assistant at the Bambino Gesù Hospital, who will receive a scholarship to participate in the next “Intrecci” Course, starting on October 7th.
