“WINE REVOLUTION”: 20 YEARS FROM NOW THE WINE MARKET IN THE UNITED STATES WILL PREFER “VARIETY” IN VINEYARDS AND STYLES. THE FORECAST IS FROM THE REPORT AT THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL WINE FAIR

What is the future of wine on the American market? Get ready for the revolution of the young “wine lovers” overseas: in the next 20 years the change will be both in taste and style, states a report published by the London International Wine Fair, one of the world’s largest wine festivals (London, May 17th to 19th).
Young consumers, who in a few years will be the reference for the U.S. wine market, have totally different tastes than the previous generation, which today still leads the market. Variety will win, giving the consumer a choice of more grape varieties, more styles and more countries. “American wine consumers between 21 and 45 years old tend to show quite different behaviors and attitudes than their counterparts over 45. It will be interesting to see how these different tastes enhance the landscape of wine in the United States in the coming years”, said Richard Halstead of Wine Intelligence and author of the report.
“Retailers, distributors and brand owners who are ready to accept this change will probably find themselves at the top in 2030”. With this in mind it’s easy to imagine that the market share for wine from abroad is likely to increase. “The wine market in the United States will be one of the biggest opportunities for the wine world over the next 20 years, particularly for distributors and retailers. I expect that this will be the topic of conversation between exhibitors and visitors taking part in the “London International Wine Fair this year”, says the Director of the festival in London, James Murray.

Focus - What is the London International Wine Fair London International Wine Fair is one of the most important wine festivals in the world, for those who want to feel the pulse of the market, and will be held from May 17th to 19th in the capital of the United Kingdom. Aromatic wines, Pinot wines, organic and biodynamic wines, the “amazing” wines and a focus on varieties originating in the French region of Rhone in the rest of the world: these are the five themes selected by “The Wine Gang” (the group formed by five of the most influential British wine critics: Tom Cannavan, Jane Parkinson, Anthony Rose, Joanna Simon, David Williams) for the “Top 100 Tasting”.
