2007 GRAPE HARVEST SCARCE THROUGHOUT EUROPE. THE FORECASTS MADE BY THE ITALIAN FARMERS FEDERATION

As in Italy, the 2007 grape harvest seems to have been scarce throughout Europe. According to the Italian Farmers Federation (which elaborated on the forecasts made by Assoenologi), it has been a difficult year for France, Spain, Portugal and Greece while increases in production, on the other hand, were registered in Germany, Austria, Romania and Bulgary.
More precisely, wine production levels for France will be no more than 50 million hectolitres (8.5% less than the previous year), while in Spain and Portugal, the decrease should be around 8% and 20%, respectively.
