A PROJECT UNITING CORRADO AND MARCELLO FRATINI AND PIERO ANTINORI: THE ARGENTIERA ESTATE IN THE HEART OF BOLGHERI CONTINUES TO GROW, UNITING GREAT WINES, AN EXCLUSIVE WINE RESORT, AND A PROJECT TO IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT

A grand new project that unites brothers Corrado and Marcello Fratini, successful textile entrepreneurs (Calvin Klein, to name just one collaborator), and the marchese Piero Antinori, the most important and well known name in Italian winemaking. They are the creators of the Argentiera Estate in Tuscany, at Bolgheri, that besides uniting big name entrepreneurs, represents an ambitious project to improve the surrounding territory that makes up one of the most beautiful areas of the Tuscan coastline.
It is a complex idea that does not only involve making high quality wines, but also includes the creation of an entire “wine resort” and the conservation of the delicate ecosystem of the Mediterranean brushlands which represent an important patrimony for the community.
The project was the brainchild of Jacopo Mazzei, partner and director of Rdm, the real estate branch of Fratini Group, which today is shared with Renzo Cotarella, the company’s director. The Argentiera Estate was acquired in 1999 and is made up of a total 72 hectares, of which 60 are vineyards producing DOC Bolgheri varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah.
Situated in an enchanting location, with slopes that rise up to 200 meters in height for a view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Tuscan Archipelago, and with a totally unique microclimate, it promises to make Argentiera Estate one of the top players in the Bolgheri area.
It is also a project that foresees the creation of (but with total respect for environmental impact) a new wine cellar, in a panoramic position together with the “wine resort” that will be perched over the sea, and equipped with spas and access to a private beach.
Federico Zileri has been appointed the role of project manager. A tried and true agronomist who has a particular sensitivity for “terroir”. The wine cellar will instead by managed by Stephane Derenoncourt, the enfant terrible of the wine world and considered one of the most brilliant young enologists today.
