“CALICI DI STELLE”: A TOAST TO SAN LORENZO. APPOINTMENTS ACROSS ITALY TO TOAST THE NIGHT OF THE SHOOTING STARS WITH QUALITY WINE

On August 10th, the night of San Lorenzo, or the night of the shooting stars, thousands of wine enthusiasts throughout Italy will once again make a toast to the heavens at the 2006 edition of “Calici di Stelle” (Wine Under the Stars).
It is the night for making wishes and as for most special moments, a glass of good wine is the ideal accompaniment. “Calici di Stelle” unites one of nature’s most magical evenings with one of the most important enogastronomic and artistic events in the country. In the historical centers and piazzas of Italy, among courtyards and castles of unsuspecting beauty, wine enthusiasts will be able to taste the best wines that participating wineries have to offer and accompanied by local food products, an expression of the local patrimony of each region that is taking part in the event.
The night of the shooting stars will reconfirm the union between wine and art by simultaneously offering wine tastings guided by sommeliers as well as a rich program of jazz and classical music events, historical parades, theatrical performances, and fireworks displays. All over Italy events will be offered thanks to the organization of the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Wine Tourism Movement) and Città del Vino (Wine Cities), making it possible for tourists and Italians alike to enjoy country’s extraordinary artistic and enological resources by the light of the stars.
In May wineries open their cellars to the public, but in August historical centers, piazzas, castles and courtyards in almost 150 cities will open their arms to wine enthusiasts.
