Instead of the usual rating system using symbols such as stars or forks, a new guide has substituted them with the hammer and sickle. The reason for this is that the latest novelty in food guides has been written by Italian parliament member under the Italian Communists party, Severino Galante.
It is titled “Quota 306 - Cronache alimentari” (Quota 306 - Food Chronicles) and has a preface authored by none other than party secretary Oliviero Diliberto, in which he declares, “while others delight in trendy salons and Vip parties, we still prefer trattorie”.
The restaurants in the Mugello area of Tuscany are considered among the best in Italy, though some of the suggested dishes, like fried pig’s blood, deer ravioli, and lamb’s lungs, may not be to everyone’s liking.
