Italians: gold and bronze medals at the “European Wine Championship”, the Vine and Wine Championship

Giacomo Saltori and Mirco Pedegani (Mach Foundation students), top of the EU Championship, in Luxembourg

Italian wine conquers the “European Wine Championship” in Luxembourg. The first and third places of the European Championship of Vine and Wine went to Italians. The very young Giacomo Saltori and Mirco Pedegani, won the Gold and Bronze medals, respectively, outperforming competition of over 64 students from 32 Schools of Oenology and from 14 different countries.

The two future winemakers , both students of the Edmund Mach Foundation, the educational and training institute in the agricultural sector based in San Michele all'Adige, challenged their opponents in tests on technical knowledge, from oenology to viticulture, pruning, grapevine diseases, microbiology and tasting. And, they totally convinced the Commission, which was composed of the teachers of all the Schools (among which also other Italian schools besides San Michele dell'Adige, such as Conegliano, Laimburg and Ora).
