RECENT STUDY SHOWS WHITE WINE IS AS HEALTHY AS EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL. A POTENT ANTIOXIDANT ALSO DISCOVERED IN WHITE GRAPES

Even white grapes now have healthy virtues. It has been discovered that within the white grape berry are hidden two components, tyrosol and caffeic acid, which serve to maintain alcohol levels, and which are also present in extra virgin olive oil. This was the revelation recently confirmed by President of the Health and Safety Commission OIV, Alberto Bertelli, during a press conference held in Rome by Città del Vino.
Bertelli thus assumed the defense of white wine which is so often snobbed by the health conscious. Bertelli noted, “We will present in detail the discovery of a potent antioxidant of the likes of hydroxytyrosol in white wines, as well as the qualities that are shared between extra virgin olive and wine, the principle products of the Mediterranean diet”. The presentation will be made during the third conference of “Wine, healthy to drink”, organized by the Città del Vino and Vino&Salute associations on October 14-15, in memory of Montalcino Mayor, Massimo Ferretti, and with the participation of the Minister of Social Solidarity, Paolo Ferrero.
