Coming soon to the big screen, the sequel of Sideways? According to the London-based magazine "The Drink Business" Rex Pickett, the author of the book on which the famous road movie was based, asked the film director Alexander Payne to shoot a new film based on "Vertical", the sequel to the novel that inspired one of the most famous wine movies ever: the story of Miles and Jack’s road trip that will lead, 7 years later, to the “Pinot Noir international Festival”, which will be held this year from July 27-29th. There are 10 million dollars on the table, the book has been written (published in 2010, ed.), the script too, but the sequel to Sideways has not started yet and nobody in Hollywood knows why, Pickett explained to “The Drink Business”.
On the other hand, even Sideways did not get off to an easy start: originally rejected by 15 producers, it then sold 150.000 copies in original sound and has been translated into 12 languages. The movie was in cinemas in 2004 (the same year the book was published) and has won over 350 awards including 2 Golden Globes.
Meanwhile, Pickett, needless to say, consoles himself with wine: he is ready to put his "Ne Plus Ultra Willamette Valley Pinot Noir" produced in Oregon on the market...
