It’s the end of the year and time for the classifications. After the list created by the “bible” of wine, the American magazine ‘Wine Spectator’, another prestigious magazine has now released its top wine list. The English publication ‘Decanter’ (www.decanter.com ) has published the “Wines of the year” classification in its December issue.
Among the hundreds of French, Argentinean, Australian, Portuguese and Californian wines that were reviewed (in over 5,000 wine tastings), Italian wines managed well. The denominations that were taken into consideration by ‘Decanter’ were Barolo 2001, Brunello di Montalcino 2001, Chianti Classico 2004, and Valpolicella Superiore. Among these, are noted those that received the “five star” score, or the special Decanter Award.
For the Barolo 2001 winners: Barolo Villero di Boroli, Barolo Cannubi Boschis di Luciano Sandrone, Barolo Scarzello, Barolo Brunate di Enzo Boglietti. For Brunello di Montalcino 2001: Brunello Cantina di Montalcino and Tornesi.
Chianti Classico 2004 award winners: Casanuova di Nittardi, Castelli del Grevepesa with its Chianti Clemente VII, Vignamaggio with Chianti Terre di Prenzano, and Villa Cafaggio.
The Valpolicella superiore winners: Stefano Accordini with l'Acinatico Ripasso Classico 2003, the winery of Monte Tabor with San Raffaele 2003 and Tinazzi Eugenio with its Cà de Rocchi Monterè Ripasso Classico 2003.
