What is the new frontier of wine? Wearing it. Researchers at Western Australia University have created the first dress with a fabric produced by a fermentation process similar to that used to produce alcoholic beverages. The fermented dress "Micro'be" (see photo) is made with organic tissue obtained from acetic acid bacteria, the same ones that turn wine into vinegar, which can create small cellulose fibers like cotton, used for this dress. The colors are limited, given the wine spectrum. It is certainly not a ready-to-wear dress but it has obvious scenic impact.
