At Christmas, more than at other time of the year, one is allowed to dream, even about wine. The Signorvino-Nomisma (economic studies consultancy) Observatory asked visitors at Italian wine shops to indicate the wines they would like to see under the Christmas tree. It turns out that Italians dream about, first of all, the classic red wine “trio” of high-level Italian wines: Amarone della Valpolicella, Brunello di Montalcino and Barolo. There is also the legendary Sassicaia, which this year more than ever, has collected great accolades in Italy and around the world, while Italians wine dreams include more of a “pop” soul, too, as many said they would love to receive and uncork a bottle of Prosecco, as well as one of Chianti, Primitivo di Puglia and Negroamaro, but also Barbera. Lastly, the only wine - grapevine mentioned among the first ten wine wishes was Merlot.
