WINE THE PROTAGONIST AT NEXT SALONE DEL GUSTO (TURIN, 26-30 OCTOBER). SLOW FOOD: “WINE IS PART OF THE HISTORY OF THE INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT”. WINE GUIDE PUBLISHED WITH GAMBERO ROSSO PRESENTED ON OCTOBER 28.

This year wine is set to be one of the main protagonists of the 2006 edition of the Salone del Gusto (www.salonedelgusto.it), organized by Slow Food and the Piedmont Region (and, for the first time this year, also with the help of the City of Turin). From October 26 - 30, the return of the event for those who want to discover, know and appreciate the marvels of enogastronomy.
The initiative, where wine will be reigning supreme this year, is full of Laboratori del Gusto (Taste Workshops), where hundreds will offer vertical and comparative tastings together with tastings of excellent food products.
But the association between Slow Food and its producers does not end with the workshops: wine makes up part of the history of the international movement, it has matured and grown stronger over the years. The fruit of this collaboration has been made concrete with the Enoteca, a showcase where producers can create a display equal to their own measure, while simultaneously responding to enthusiast’s expectations. In an environment well suited for tastings, that is pleasant and comfortable, wines from the Vini d’Italia Guide will be offered, as well as a selection of some of the top labels worldwide.
The Enoteca will also include areas providing tastings of foods that exalt the wines: from fish pasta, to raw and cooked fish with “cous cous”, or as a more classical soup, and even desserts. Then, of course, there will be the presentation of the “Vini d’Italia 2007” wine guide, published by Slow Food Editore and Gambero Rosso. A guide that is tightly linked with Tre Bicchieri 2007, a tasting of the wines that received the highest recognition awarded in the guide (during which, according to rumors heard by WineNews, there will also be the debut of “Tre bicchieri verdi”, or rather an award for “good, clean, and just wines”).
This appointment has been set for October 28 (10:30 am) at the Auditorium Giovanni Agnelli, where there will be the presentation and celebration of the best national and international wines. And, finally, there will be a grand tasting at 4 pm on the evocative ramp that was once the Lingotto’s trial run strip.
