"THERE IS NO CMO WINE DECREE, NO CALLS FOR APPLICATIONS AND NO DECISIONS ON THE RANKINGS SINCE 2016. THE GOVERNMENT IS ABSENT ON THE PROMOTION OF ITALIAN WINE ABROAD", SAID SFEDERVINI. "THERE IS A SENSE OF BUSINESS FRUSTRATION"

“There is no CMO Wine decree, there are no calls for applications, there have been no decisions on the rankings since 2016 - government is absent on the promotion of Italian wine abroad”.
Federvini complained in a note that “in 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture has not put Italy in the condition to utilize more than 100 million euros of European resources for the promotion of wine on third country markets, compared with France’s and Spain’s perfect organization that added the funds from Brussels to the investments of their companies”.

The CMO funds granted to Italy in 2017 for various intervention measures amount to around 337 million euros. The amount dedicated specifically to promotion, as the Italian federation of Italian wine industries, Ferdervini, points out, is just over 101 million euros, of which 30% is for national projects and 70% for regional projects.
The funds will be activated if the companies provide at least an equivalent investment. Federvini, led by Sando Boscaini, states that “it is thus easy to understand the Italian companies’ sense of frustration of being limited compared to their competitors, who are already ready for a winter campaign in non-EU countries, which will be very positive for them.
Our wine producers, on the contrary, have been wallowing in the bureaucracy and appeals sector for two years. Federvini has demanded the Italian authorities immediately remove this discrimination, which is detrimental to Italian companies”.
