25 YEARS OF ART AND WINE: THE “SILVER ANNIVERSARY” FOR THE UNION BETWEEN ENOLOGIST MARCO PALLANTI AND CASTELLO DI AMA. THE TOP NAME IN CHIANTI CLASSICO AND A REFERENCE POINT FOR CONTEMPORARY ART CELEBRATES WITH A SPECIAL LABEL FOR THE 2006 HARVEST

The “marriage” between enologist Marco Pallanti and Castello di Ama (one of the top names in Chianti Classico) has continued to stay strong through the passion for both wine and art. And the 25 year anniversary of this union is being celebrated with the presentation of their 2006 vintage and an artistic work by Giovanni Ozzola: a photographic triptych titled “Omnia Munda Mundis”, on exposition in the Cappella di Villa Ricucci located on the estate.

The story of Marco Pallanti and Castello di Ama is not only a professional union, but also personal: Lorenza Sebasti, Pallanti’s wife and General Director of the company, has personalized the 2006 vintage, Castello di Ama, Vigneto Bellavista, Vigneto La Casuccia e L’Apparita, with the phrase “Grazie Marco per questi 25 anni insieme. L.” (Thank you, Marco, for these 25 years together).

A union that has also be enriched by the birth of three children, Arturo, Norma, and Gemma.

There have been many successes that Pallanti (who also has the task of President of the Chianti Classico Consortium) and Castello di Ama have collected together: as well as wines that have constantly been awarded by the critics, there has also been the recognition as “best enologist” by Gambero Rosso/Slow Food (2003) and “best winery” (2005), again from Gambero Rosso/Slow Food.

But Castello di Ama has, over the years, also become an important point of reference for contemporary art, evidence of which are the installations by Michelangelo Pistoletto (L’albero di Ama – divisione e moltiplicazione dello specchio, 2000); Daniel Buren (Sulle vigne: punti di vista, 2001); Giulio Paolini (Paradigma, 2002); Kendell Geers (Revolution, 2003); Anish Kapoor (Aima=Sangue, 2004), Chen Zhen (La lumière intérieur du corps humain, 2005); Carlos Garaicoa (Yo no quiero ver más a mis vecinos, 2006), and Nedko Solakov (amadoodles, 2007).

On September 21st the vernissage for the ninth art installation took place for the latest work by Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias (Towards the ground).
