Wine enthusiasts and collectors can’t miss out on the next appointment set for the Gelardini & Romani Wine Auction on October 10 in Rome. The top auction house in Italy will be offering an extraordinary collection of Italian and French whites and reds.

As well as some important collections from both Italy and abroad there will also be two extraordinary lots on the block: the private collection of an ex Italian president that includes a notable selection of Bordeaux from the 1960’s to 90’s, as well as a few Barolo; and a Salmanazar (9 liter bottle) of Ornellaia 2006, a unique bottle that makes up part of the “Vendemmia d’Artista 2006” (The Artist’s Harvest 2006), whose earnings will be donated entirely to the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan.

The catalog for the autumn auction includes a total of 200 lots, over 700 bottles, and over 80 “collectible” labels. After the excellent results of the last harvest, which registered sales of over 100% above the base lot offers, the Gelardini & Romani Wine Auction presents a new catalog dedicated to the Grand Cru of Bordeaux and Italy, distinguished by particularly interesting base starting offers for lots of Super Tuscans, Brunello di Montalcino, Barolo, Barbaresco, and Champagne. Baroli & Barbareschi 2004 “Collectibles” starting at 30 euros per bottle, premier Grand Cru di Bordeaux 1990 at 150 euros per bottle, Masseto, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006 at 150 euros per bottle, Champagne Dom Perignon, Cristal, Krug at 80 euros per bottle, Brunello Riserva Biondi Santi 1955, 1964 at 250 euros per bottle, Petrus, Pomerol, 1973, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1993, 1994 at 300 euros per bottle.

All of the Grand Cru from Bordeaux produced in the 1960’s that are listed in the catalog will be offered in a free tasting before the auction.

The auction will begin at 4:30 PM on October 10 in Via Ferdinando Fuga 1/C, in Rome. Reservations are necessary.
