Now in France wine is sold door-to-door: free tasting in your home, with the wine producer. First it was door-to-door cleaning products, now in 2010 it is bottled wine. It will be “door–to-door” demonstrations and sales of wine. The idea comes from France where Philippe Kazek is launching “Vignerons à la maison”. The concept is simple: the economic crisis has affected even French winemakers, especially small companies, and they are seeking new channels to sell their wine. The service designed by Kazek is, simply, to organize an in home wine tasting, guided by the producer or winemaker, who propose and describe their wines. Decanter.com says the debut is expected in September, with about 20 producers who have adhered to the idea, which Kazek hopes will reach 400 within one year. Of course, like all respectable home demonstrations, it is free for the consumer (the producer will pay to subscribe to the site), there is no obligation to purchase and there must be at least 4 people. Will it be successful?
