There will be a showcase dedicated to International gastronomy: France will hold the place of honor, Japan and Southeast China are the focus areas and the U.S. and Switzerland are the “target” countries. It is a very important event for the Italian food industry that boasts a yearly turnover of 120 billion euros, of which nearly 20% is export (data from Federalimentare, the Italian Federation of Food Industries) and employs over 400,000 workers in 6500 companies in Italy.

France is in the lead with the Consortium of French cheeses and International gastronomic specialties from the members of the association Origin (a non government association based in Geneva that groups producers of designations of origin worldwide).
There will be a space dedicated to “Sweet Italy”, the exhibition of sweets and “Planet Nutrition”, focusing on taste and healthy eating. And on May 8th, a tasty preview of “CibusInCittà” (Cibus in the city) the first show outside the expo space that will fill the streets and squares of Parma with a thousand different flavors.
Cibus, however, will not only be tasting and exhibitions. There will also be conferences on the present and the future of the industry. Besides the traditional annual meeting of Federalimentare and Confindustria (the Italian Federation of Food Industries and the Employers’ Federation), the meeting will touch all the current issues: “Outside the home: a growing market, a challenge to share” conducted by Aidi-Assodolce and Fipe (Italian Association of Italian confectionery Industries and Italian Federation of Bars and Catering); “More value to industry: the future of relations between manufacturers and retailers” by Parma Fairs and Magazine; ”The commercial brand as a driving force for exports” and also insights on technology and solidarity with “Food for Life”, the sustainability of the industry ... There’s really something to suit everyone’s taste.
