The event on May 20th in Rome will be exciting for collectors and fans of great wines. The Gelardini & Romani Wine Auction, the first auction house in Italy specialized in wine, will put up for auction, as usual, an extraordinary selection of white wines, giving the place of honor to the wonderful wines of Burgundy (from Leflaive to Romanée Conti) and Champagne, in an auction that promises to be the largest ever held in Italy for these types of wines.
There will be 341 lots, more than 1.400 bottles of Magnums and Jeroboams, of which 229 lots are “collectibles” and the lowest auction base prices in Europe. There will be a large space dedicated to the elite Italian wine production that will feature the Campania region wines of Montevetrano (complete vertical) and Galardi, with its “Terra di Lavoro” and Sagrantino of Montefalco “25 Years” by Caprai (vintages 1993 to 2008). Also, for Italian wines, the Friulian Campoleone, the Miani whites (10 vintages), Merlot Radikon, Turriga by Argiolas and Granato by Elizabeth Foradori. In addition to a selection of France’s best, Riesling of Mosella returns to the auction on the wave of the excellent results achieved in past sales. In conjunction with the auction, there will be a tasting of over 20 wines from the catalog and Pata Negra ham (Jamon de Bellota Senorio Jabugo 5 Iotas, 100% Iberian breed, aged 36 months). The tasting is free, but reservations are required.
