THE GELARDINI & ROMANI WINE AUCTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 10TH IN MERANO. A DATE FOR GREAT VINTAGE WINES FROM ITALY AND ABROAD BY THE TOP ITALIAN AUCTION HOUSE SPECIALIZED IN WINE

350 lots, 800 bottles (standard, magnum, Jeroboam, imperial, Salmanazar), of which, 102 collectibles, 73 super collectibles (16 of these having received 100/100 by Robert Parker or Wine Spectator magazine) are the wines that will be on the auctioning block at one of the most important auctions of the year, the Gilardini & Romani Wine Auction (www.grwineauction.com) on November 10th, in the city of Merano.
In the auction catalogue, Italy is represented by many prestigious lots, among which there are several especially interesting Tuscan and Piedmont wines: Masseto, from 1995 to 2003 (including a 2001 imperial), created by Lodovico Antinori at the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, now owned by the Frescobaldi family; Sassicaia, with over 10 vintages, including 1997 and 1998 in cases of 12, and a 1985 magnum; Brunello Biondi Santi Riserva 1955, 1958, 1964, 1967, 1968; several Brunello di Montalcino,1997 vintage; Barolo 1901 by Rinaldi, Barolo Riserva Monfortino 1941, 1988, 1997, Borgogno 1952, 1961, 1964, Giacosa 2000; and Barbaresco Gaja 1964 and 2000.
But over one third of the catalogue is also dedicated to French wines, including the most important names for Bordeaux: from Pessac-Leognan (Chateau La Mission Haut Brion 1989) to Pauillac (Chateau Lafite 1996 and Chateau Latour 2000); from Pomerol (Petrùs 1990) to St. Emilion (Chateau Cheval Blanc 1983). There are also many great wines from Rodano like Hermitage de La Chapelle, or Chateauneuf-du-Pape with vintages from 1998, 2000, 2003, as well as Domaines Marcoux, Pegau, Janasse, Bosquet des Papes, Vieux Telegraphe. And over 20 lots dedicated to the precious cru by Cote Rotie di E.Guigal like La Mouline, La Turque and La Landonne. And, of course, there is Champagne with lots of Dom Perignon 1964 and 1996, Cristal 1983, and Krug 1990.
There will also be a wine tasting made up of some great labels: from Barbaresco Gaja 1964 (97 points from Wine Spectator, 95 from Robert Parker) to Brunello Riserva Castelgiocondo, Frescobaldi 1999 (97 points, Wine Spectator), Chateauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vigne Janasse 2003 (96 points from Wine Spectator, 97 from Parker), and La Mouline, E. Guigal 1992 - (91, Wine Spectator, 91, Parker). A large part of the earnings will be donated to M3v-Onlus, the non-profit organization that promotes the improvement of human living conditions through the diffusion of human culture and dignity
The auction has been organized as part of the 2007 edition of the “Merano International Food & Wine Festival” (www.meranowinefestival.com), which will run from November 10 to 12 and includes the participation of 468 quality wine producers from all over the world and 123 artisan food makers.
