THE LUXURY GOODS GIANT LVMH DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH JUST OWNING CHÂTEAU D'YQUEM, KRUG AND CLOUDY BAY, AND HAS NOW BOUGHT THE SPANISH BODEGA NUMANTHIA-TERMES

The Bodega Numanthia-Termes, founded in 1998 (and considered the principal reason for the international success of the Spanish denomination Toro), has been acquired by the luxury giant Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) who already own the French producers par excellence Château d’Yquem and Krug, as well as New Zealand’s Cloudy Bay.
The Spanish winery belonged to the Eugeren family, also the proprietors of Sierra Cantabria, Señorio de San Vicente and Viñedos de Pàganos, which are all found within the Rioja area denomination.
The take over by LVMH includes the acquisition of 40 hectares of vineyards, including one hectare of the “Termanthia” vineyard that produces the flagship wine of Bodega Numanthia-Termes (the other wines that are produced are “Numanthia” and “Termes”, also obtained from the Tempranillo grape, in the area of the Tinta de Toro denomination).
