On July 13th a toast was made in honor of the return of the Alighieri family to Tuscany after Dante Alighieri was banned over 650 years ago. The celebration included Count Pieralvise Serego Alighieri (direct descendant of Dante), Dario Cecchini (the famous butcher from Panzano in Chianti) who had already performed a memorable recitation of verses from the Divine Comedy for the presentation of the “Bello Ovile 2006” wine produced by the Bello Ovile Estate owned by Serego Alighieri, and whose name is taken from Dante’s definition of his beloved Florence while he was in exile in Verona.
The project has been realized thanks to the historic collaboration with the Serego Alighieri family, who own the “Possessioni” estate in Valpolicella, and with Masi Agricola, one of the top producers of Amarone.
The celebration was held at the winery of the Tuscan estate and rosso toscano IGT “Bello Ovile 2006” was offered together with delicacies from butcher Cecchini.
